DigitalTA is a Finalist for the Triple E 2025 EU Project of the Year Award

The consortium is proud to announce that its revolutionary project, “DigitalTA – Digital Academy in Teaching Practice for a Seamless Transition from Pre-Service to In-Service,” has been named a finalist for the EU Project of the Year Award at the prestigious Triple E Awards 2025.

The Triple E Awards–Entrepreneurship and Engagement Excellence in Higher Education–are the first global awards program to focus entirely on the “third mission” of universities: their role in entrepreneurship, engagement and societal impact.

Founded in 2019, the Triple E Awards were established to recognize the work of universities who were overlooked. While some countries honor entrepreneurial universities at the institution level, there was a striking lack of international platforms celebrating initiatives, individuals and teams leading the charge in engagement and innovation. The awards now serve as a global stage for recognizing excellence in higher education impact, celebrating those who advance university missions beyond teaching and research.

The EU Project of the Year category specifically honors high-impact projects that contribute to systemic change, regional development and educational innovation across the European Union.

Developed in response to a pressing challenge in European education–the alarming attrition rate of newly qualified teachers, nearly 30% of whom leave the profession within their first five years–the DigitalTA project is redefining how Europe supports its newest educators.

DigitalTA aims to bridge the gap between teacher education and professional practice through the creation of a comprehensive European Teacher Academy. By integrating digital tools with reflective practice, the project has created a robust online learning community that connects pre-service training institutions with in-service organizations.

The results have been impressive and surpassed expectations in many cases:

  • 1,218 users across Europe engaged with the platform
  • 251 educational institutions involved during the pilot phase
  • 9 academic papers published
  • 11 international conferences and 50 local events hosted
  • 17,316 participants engaged in project activities

The Triple E Awards celebrate excellence in higher education, with a special focus on universities’ third mission–their engagement with society, entrepreneurship and innovation. Being a finalist for EU Project of the Year emphasizes DigitalTA’s transformative impact not only on teacher retention but also on building a resilient, collaborative and future-ready educational ecosystem in Europe.
